A Bigg Effort Foundation

A Bigg Effort Foundation is inspired by Maurice “Biggs” Houston, a man known for guiding youth through action. He helped kids get sports equipment, taught life skills like tying a tie, encouraged community service, and hosted cookouts that brought neighbors together.

Biggs believed confidence grows when young people feel supported and prepared. His example showed that small acts done consistently can shape lives. That spirit lives on through this foundation.

Founders' Story

A Bigg Effort Foundation was founded by Kelvin and Henry Harmon, rooted in their belief that community can change a child’s future.

Kelvin Harmon’s journey began in Liberia, where he experienced poverty early and saw the value of people looking out for one another. When he came to the United States, mentors and leaders helped shape his path. Football became a vehicle for opportunity, eventually leading him to success at the highest level.

Along the way, people like Maurice “Biggs” Houston, Coach Giesel, Coach Slocum, Poter, and Marcus Hammond poured into him — teaching discipline, structure, and belief. They showed him what happens when adults invest in a young person’s future.

That experience inspired Kelvin to give back. This foundation exists to be the support system many kids need — proof that where you start doesn’t define where you can go, and that with guidance and community, young people can dream big and achieve more.
